ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Fair Farms is an industry led training and certification program with the main objective being to lift employment practices across the Australian horticulture industry and reduce the risk of worker exploitation. Fair Farms a national program is developed and implemented by Growcom with support from the Fair Work Ombudsman, the Federal Department of Agriculture and AUSVEG

The National Program Manager, Fair Farms Initiative is responsible for the successful operation of the Fair Farms Training & Certification Program across Australia in accordance with Growcom’s strategic plan. Please visit www.fairfarms.com.au for more information about the program.

THE ROLE

  • Implement a business plan to deliver the Fair Farms certification and training program across Australia
  • Develop annual work plan and budget and manage program activities in adherence to them and develop a self-sustainable business.
  • Manage relationship with external government funding bodies and prepare regular milestone reports
  • Liaise with and influence key stakeholders across industry, government and the retail sector to ensure continued support of the program.
  • Effective promotion of the program to stakeholders across Australia
  • Continuous review and improvement of the Fair Farms training and certification process and underlying documents including the Fair Farms Standard, the Fair Farms Rules and the Fair Farms Auditing Guide.
  • Oversee and facilitate effective program governance by convening the Fair Farms External Stakeholder Reference Group and coordinating and supporting the Fair Farms Technical Committee
  • Oversee and support the further development of the Fair Farms training platform including face-to-face training, train-the-trainer and e-learning.
  • Manage a small team
  • Supervise and manage the accreditation and ongoing performance of external third-party audit firms
  • High level delivery of administration services directly relating to the management and implementation of the Fair Farms scheme.
  • Maintain, update and improve the Fair Farms integrated IT platform including its online database – ensuring that design, structure and function meet the specific requirements of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee and manage services of external IT developer.
  • Ensure that the program has adequate and suitable resources to complete its activities (securing of external grant funding and generation of Fair Farms revenue).
  • Contribute and support communication and marketing activities including provision of technical content for e-newsletter, articles and media releases; production of fliers and brochures, and maintenance of the Fair Farms website
  • Provide expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders on the Fair Farms Standard and the pathway to certification
  • Collate, review and analyse project, training and certification data and information to report on agreed metrics to internal and external stakeholders, making recommendations for improvement as appropriate

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Demonstrated experience with all aspects of project coordination and management, preferably certification projects and within projects of similar size and scope
  • Critical thinking skills and proven ability to proactively resolve problems and achieve results
  • Excellent written and oral communication to effectively articulate key messages, adapting to suit context and audience
  • High level networking and engagement skills
  • Ability to effectively lead, facilitate and delegate cross-functional teams (direct reports, other internal staff and external consultants) with a common goal

ABOUT YOU

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Willingness to learn and facilitate other IT platforms, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with IT departments.
  • Previous experience of assurance systems is desirable
  • An understanding of the Australian agriculture and horticulture industries is desirable
  • Current Driver’s license
  • Capacity to work outside normal business hours during peak periods
  • Regular intra and interstate travel required
