About you

We are looking for a multi-skilled, values-driven Shop Manager to lead our not-for-profit store as we recover from the rollercoaster ride of the last few years, and rebuild our ‘business for good’ with and for our members and community.

This role reports to the Board (made up of five voluntary directors) and is responsible for:

• Overseeing shop operations (including ordering, merchandising and rotating stock),
• Managing and leading a team of two permanent staff, up to four casual staff and approximately 30 volunteers (including recruiting, training and rostering),
• Engaging the community (including marketing and communications), and
• Complying with health and safety, food safety and other regulations.

As a leader and manager, you will be the face of the co-op and the driving force that brings all the different elements together to build a connected and thriving community where people’s purchases and actions make the world a better place.

Skills and experience needed

• Management experience, preferably in retail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and consultatively
• Ability to interpret and apply legislation including WHS, EEO and regulations relating to retail food stores
• High level of computer literacy including use of Microsoft Excel, Word and experience in bookkeeping (e.g. Xero or MYOB) and Point of Sale software
• Ability to create and manage a business budget and to interpret and assess financial performance
• Outstanding problem solving skills
• Ability to prioritise and manage competing demands under pressure

Key details

Hours per week: 38 (including one Saturday per fortnight)

Salary: $60,000 + superannuation
