About Fams
Fams is the NSW peak body for the child protection NGO early intervention and prevention sector. We champion the organisations working every day to keep children and young people safe, strong and supported in thriving families and communities.
We’re looking for a Program and Communications Officer who brings heart and organisation to everything they do. In this role, you’ll help Fams run smoothly and make sure our work is seen and felt through impactful communications.
You’ll support the CEO and the wider team to strengthen and connect our sector, delivering projects that influence systems and improve outcomes for children, young people and communities across NSW.
No two days are the same and that’s exactly how we like it.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll help keep Fams humming behind the scenes while also showcasing our voice externally. Your work may include:
- Crafting, managing and analysing content for the Fams website and social media, including providing insights and reports to the Fams Board
- Planning and coordinating face‑to‑face and online meetings, events and conferences from venues and catering to agendas and logistics
- Rolling out digital campaigns and advocacy initiatives across their full lifecycle
- Supporting the CEO with systems improvement, data integrity, policy development and record management
- Collecting, analysing and reporting on project and program data, including contributing to Monitoring and Evaluation Plan, Cultural Safety Framework, Strategic Plan, Communications Plan plus more.
- Preparing administrative reports and acting as a central point of contact for enquiries, helping keep operations running smoothly
You’ll be equal parts organiser and communicator with plenty of variety along the way.
What You’ll Bring
- A valid NSW Working with Children Check
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a friendly, confident style
- A demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships
- Confidence in setting priorities and managing multiple projects and workflows
- Experience using social media strategically to maximise reach and impact
- Confidence managing websites and digital platforms
- Experience analysing data and writing clear, purposeful reports
- Strong administrative skills and experience supporting office operations
- A flexible, positive attitude and a willingness to pitch in (big jobs and small)
- Solid digital literacy across Microsoft Office, SharePoint and OneDrive, plus tools like Canva, Meta Suite and LinkedIn
Bonus Points If You Also Have
- Tertiary qualifications in social sciences or a related field
- Experience with tools such as Hootsuite, Calendly, Monday.com, Menti, SurveyMonkey or Eventbrite
- Experience working in an NSW not‑for‑profit, community services organisation or peak body
- A working understanding of the NSW early intervention and prevention child protection sector
