About the role

Are you passionate about improving patient, family and carer experience? An opportunity exists to join the Consumer Partnerships team as the Partnering in Healthcare Diversity Coordinator. Reporting to the Manager Patient Experience this role is responsible for co-ordination of activities across the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion portfolio for patients, families and carers. Diversity at Eastern Health encompasses our individual differences and the unique blend of experiences, qualities, characteristics, knowledge, skills and perspectives that people have.

This role will partner across the business to enable Eastern Health to provide a culturally safe environment that recognises, responds and supports the diverse needs of our consumers, families and carers. This role will also, under the direction of the Manager Patient Experience, provide support for Health Literacy (individual health literacy and the health literacy environment).

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Sensitivity to the needs of culturally, linguistically and economically diverse communities, people with disabilities and people and communities with differing points of view
  • Comprehensive understanding of diversity issues as they relate to health service provision and of legislative and policy requirements relating to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Evidence of ability to manage competing priorities and deliver required output on time
  • Highly developed organisational, written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work at both strategic and operational levels within a complex organisation
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure both independently and within a team
  • Consult and collaborate with others and work as an effective team member to deliver organisational outcomes
  • Demonstrated capacity to ‘live’ the Eastern Health Values
  • A Victorian Drivers Licence
