Health Project Manager

Down Syndrome Victoria

Down Syndrome Victoria is looking to recruit a Health Project Manager on a fixed term, part time contract through to July 2023 (.6 FTE, 46hrs per fortnight).

Down Syndrome Victoria (DSV) was recently successful in obtaining a 3-year ILC Mainstream Capacity Building (MCB) grant to improve the health experience and outcomes for people with Down syndrome across the Victorian health sector.

For people with Down syndrome to receive health care that is consistently appropriate and accessible, a greater understanding of what it means to have Down syndrome is required by health professionals. This project will engage with professionals working in a variety of health settings including hospitals, aged care facilities and allied health providers, and deliver information, resources and training to assist them to provide the best and most appropriate care for people with Down syndrome. The successful candidate’s ability to establish trust and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders will be critical to the success of this project.

Down Syndrome Victoria is the state-wide peak membership organisation representing individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Down Syndrome Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation established in 1978 to provide services, support, information and resources to people with Down syndrome, their families and the broader community. We work alongside people with Down syndrome and their families so they may reach their full potential and live the lives they choose.

We need an enthusiastic and motivated Health Project Manager to:

  • Convene the Building Knowledge Expert Reference Group (ERG)
  • Develop effective partnerships with health professionals/organisations/networks, including hospitals, aged care facilities and allied health providers
  • Review existing, and develop new content and resources to meet the needs of various health professionals
  • Deliver professional development training and workshops with a co facilitator
  • Recruit and support adults with Down syndrome to co facilitate professional development opportunities
  • Promote and embed Down syndrome specific resources within Victorian health networks
  • Conduct regular project reporting, evaluate outcomes and acquittals

A position description is attached which contains selection criteria.

This is a significant project and an exciting opportunity for DSV and critical for current and future people living with Down syndrome.
