Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District (CMPID) is a not-for-profit industry association that is a member led, and member funded that aims to grow Macquarie Park as a globally leading innovation district.
CMPID works with its diverse mix of members including industry, startups and SMEs, Macquarie University, medical research institutions, landowners and community organisations to be a unified voice for the ecosystem, a promoter and amplifier of the district’s strengths as well as a connector of ideas and opportunities between members.
THE ROLE
CMPID is seeking an organised, proactive and detailed Operations Manager to report to the General Manager (GM) and working closely with members, employee, suppliers and stakeholders to facilitate the day to day operations of the organisation as well as monitor and provide advice to ensure delivery, revenue and regulatory targets are met.
The role will lead on all aspects of operations for CMPID including:
- Financial management: develop annual budget with GM based on annual workplan, upload and maintain budget in Xero as per workplan, monitor income and expenses against workplan budget, accounts payable and receivable, including banking, produce monthly/quarterly Management Reports for GM and the Board, review and pay monthly and quarterly BAS, approve monthly Superannuation payments in Xero and liaise with bank and board members to update accounts.
- Regulatory and reporting: maintain ASIC requirements – Public Officer, Australian Business Register etc, maintain Policies and procedures manual, manage organisational projects such as system upgrades, key reports, funding proposals, grant reporting etc.
- Member management: onboard new members, respond to queries, manage annual member renewal process & timely payments, communication on other operational matters
- Event management & support: invitation process & rsvp tracking (using Canva to design and Ontraport to manage), venue and facilities, catering, signage, suppliers, budget, AV, team tasks, post-event actions etc.
- Communications support: maintain & update key website pages, support comms process and step in when needed to write news stories, LinkedIn posts and monthly newsletters.
This hands-on position requires a blend of operational excellence, financial acumen and organization and to make an impact on both to the team and CMPID members.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
- High level of general computer literacy.
- Previous experience in an operations and/or finance role.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Excellent skills and experience with Excel including building & tracking budgets and project management tracking.
- Experience with accounting software programs with XERO experience highly regarded.
