Balwyn Evergreen Centre strongly relies on volunteers to support the delivery of all our programs, activities and the general running of the organisation. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, induction, training (in collaboration with Program Coordinators), supervision, administration and supporting all volunteers of Balwyn Evergreen Centre.

We are currently seeking applications for the role of Volunteer Program Coordinator (paid role) to join our small team at Balwyn Evergreen Centre. It is a unique opportunity to work with a passionate group of staff and volunteers, grow our existing volunteer program and ensure our volunteers have a rewarding experience volunteering in our programs.

The role is ideal for a person with strong leadership and interpersonal skills, demonstrated experience in volunteer management and a commitment to fostering a community of friendship, health, wellbeing and independence where older Victorians have choice.

You will be joining a passionate and collaborative team at Balwyn Evergreen Centre who believe we are all better when we’re connected.

To thrive in this role, you will:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing a volunteer program in not for profit or community sector organisation is essential.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the principles of volunteering and the value and contribution of volunteers.
  • Experience in supervising, leading and motivating volunteers (or staff) and the ability to work unsupervised as well as be an effective team player with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for communicating with a diverse range of volunteers, especially older people.
  • Has initiative in completing tasks with tight deadlines, successfully working remotely and flexibility to handle constantly changing priorities.
  • Strong ICT skills and an ability to learn new programs and platforms.
  • Networking skills with the ability to recruit suitable volunteers.
  • Be values-driven and thrive in a values-based organisation and demonstrate commitment to fostering a community of friendship, health, wellbeing and independence where older Victorians have choice.

You will be required to provide evidence of:

  • A current police check or NDIS check (or be prepared to undergo one)
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License.
  • Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
