ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Campaign Manager is part of a growing, dynamic and collaborative campaigns and policy team developing pointed research, advocacy and community engagement on how governments, industry and local communities can ensure the transition to renewable energy delivers regional benefits.

The focus of the Senior Campaign Manager is developing and overseeing REA campaign strategies in pursuit of an energy transformation that places regional Australia at the centre.

Using strategic insight, stakeholder management & negotiation skills, the position will add advocacy and campaign expertise to the REA team as we advocate, educate and organise to deliver local benefits and improve industry practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Campaign Manager will be responsible for:

  • coordinating national campaigns to win federal funding and policies to support regional communities in the shift to renewable energy
  • working with a variety of stakeholders in local communities, the renewable energy industry and state and federal governments
  • collaborating with campaign allies on strategy, tactics and lobbying efforts
  • developing effective messaging and resources to organise and mobilise support for campaigns

The Senior Campaign Manager will have a valid driver's licence to attend meetings and events as appropriate to the role. Some overnight travel and evening and weekend work may be required. Reimbursement for reasonable expenses will be provided subject to approval.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in not-for-profit advocacy and campaign roles, with leadership experience and proven results gained by applying a range of mobilising and organising strategies and tactics.
  • Strong communication skills, with proven ability to understand technical information and translate it for various audiences
  • Demonstrated record of working effectively under pressure in collaboration with partners and stakeholders, including adapting to challenges and managing sensitive issues
  • Ability to lead with confidence; promote strong ideas; pick up the phone and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including local government leaders
  • Ability to use or quickly adapt to using google suite, slack, nationbuilder and a range of other online applications used by the team as required
  • Passion for climate justice; building Australia’s renewable energy future; improving the fabric of local communities; and justice for First Nations people.
  • Current valid driver’s licence and ability to travel regionally and interstate.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of the needs and opportunities in rural and regional Australia, preferably living in regional Australia
  • Awareness of the Australian renewable energy sector status, opportunities and issues.
