About Us 

Red Cross Migration Support Programs (MSP) is responsible for coordinating, leading and supporting complex national and local programs. The overall objective is to provide effective and responsive services to people who are vulnerable as a result of migration, such as those separated by war and disaster, refugees, asylum seekers and immigration detainees.

About the role 

The role of Housing Officer is to provide housing and tenancy management services to refugees and humanitarian entrants establishing a new life in Australia. You will be responsible for the management of short-term tenancies as well as ensuring refugees secure long-term and sustainable tenancies close to relevant essential services. This includes Orientation and capacity building on ‘how to be a good tenant’, Tenant Rights and Responsibilities, budget management of rent and utilities, Good neighbour awareness, Real Estate Agent awareness raising, relationship building and liaison.

What you will bring 

  • Demonstrated cultural competence and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Proven highly developed organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate and apply effective interview techniques to sensitively gain information from clients
  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act and experience in the dcelivery of community or social housing services
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in social housing/community services or relevant experience

A Working With Children (WWCC) and a current unrestricted drivers licence are mandatory requirements for this role

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 4. Salary from $ 77584.00 + superannuation + salary packaging.
