The opportunity 

The Night Cafe supports young people aged 12-25 years who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness. The Night Cafe provides a safe space where young people experiencing deep social exclusion have their basic needs met whilst connecting with the people, activities, and services. By building effective pathways through referral, the Night Cafe assists young people have the knowledge, access to resources, tools and skills to improve social connection and participation.

In this position, you will provide individualised support to young people to identify strengths and needs to support the achievement of goals.

This role involves casual hours, including working Tuesday and Thursday evenings until 9pm.

What you will bring 

  • Proven ability to provide high quality referral and holistic support services
  • Demonstrated understanding of the complex needs of children/young people and homelessness
  • Ability to assess young people’s complex needs, conduct risk assessments and engage in a strengths based approach
  • Ability to work in a culturally safe way with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Well developed interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Working with Children Check and Driver Licence

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 4. Salary from $41.53000 + casual loading + superannuation + salary packaging.
