Volunteering and Contact ACT (VCA) is the peak body for volunteering and community information services in the Canberra Region. If you are looking for an exciting events role where you are able to contribute to improving inclusion and participation within your community this is for you!

Duties of the role include:

  • Deliver high quality, professional corporate events and services against identified outcomes and objectives including the Volunteering Expo, Volunteering Awards and Business Breakfasts
  • Develop and implement the organisation’s event and training calendar
  • Recruit, support and manage a team of volunteers for community events or on behalf of partner organisations
  • Build and maintain professional relationships, including with corporate partners member organisations and other key stakeholders
  • Effectively recruit, screen, train and manage volunteers to meet organisational and program/project objectives including utilising retention and recognition techniques
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of all interactions with external stakeholders
  • Identify, research and recommend new service or product opportunities in line with operational and strategic plans
  • Actively and professionally represent the organisation at events, expos and meetings as required
  • Prepare high quality reports for relevant Departments, Board of Directors and for the Executive team
  • Contribute to the smooth running and facilitation of both business sites
  • Respond to all general enquiries including resolving member and VCA online platform enquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Contribute to organisational priorities including ongoing program alignment and partnering.

Selection Criteria


  • Demonstrated sound interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to articulate messages across different channels
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective networks with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience delivering customer focused events and training
  • Demonstrated sound problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple tasks and to time manage to ensure effective delivery, including project management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Efficient at using IT platforms and databases including maintaining accurate and timely records

Other requirements:

  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Check or willingness to obtain one
