IDRS is looking for 2 Information and IntakeOfficers to fill positions in our community legal centre and our Justice Advocacy Service. See attached position description.

The Community Legal Centre provides legal advice and casework, education and advocacy services for people with intellectual disability. This position will be responsible for reception, taking enquiries and referrals providing information and referral and administrative duties.

The Justice Advocacy Service provides support to people with cognitive impairment in their interactions with police, courts and solicitors when they are a victim or witness or crime or accused of a crime. Justice Advocacy staff are located across NSW.

  • Contract positions until June 2021, located in CBD
  • Salary range $58,261 - $62,467 depending on experience and qualifications

Essential skills and knowledge – selection criteria

You must include a statement explaining how you meet each of these criteria in your application

  1. Experience in a similar role in the community service or legal sectors. Role includes reception, responding to enquiries and incoming referrals plus administrative duties
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to communicate simply and clearly with people with intellectual or other cognitive impairment who may have difficulty with understanding
  3. Ability to maintain calm, non-judgmental and compassionate approach in challenging situations and with people who may be distressed or frustrated.
  4. Demonstrated ability to problem solve and manage competing priorities
  5. Strong skills and experience using Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point. Experience with Office 365 an advantage
  6. Ability to use data base including producing reports
