We are dedicated to addressing some of the key issues that impact the lives of young people in Australia: unemployment, mental health and lack of regular exercise.

Our vocational and workplace-based programs are key to what we do, allowing us to support some of Melbourne’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable communities into long-term employment. 

Our engagement programs connect Good Cycles with these communities: teaching valuable skills, decreasing social isolation and placing positive role models into participant’s lives. 

Core Duties

The Employment Programs Manager is responsible for leading the organisation’s programs in these six key areas:

  1. Strategy and Planning: Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead the development of Good Cycles strategic and operational planning in relation to the existing employment programs, develop new programs as necessary and support the operational business staff in their work with young people.
  2. Service delivery: Coordinating the logistics and delivery of all existing employment programs, including managing our in-house trainers, transitional employment lead, partner organisations, referral agencies, internal/external employers.
  3. Staff management and culture: Provide direct management, leadership and support to the programs team, along with providing support to business staff through a capability framework in their day-to-day training of young people. Recruit new employees as needed.
  4. Stakeholder management: Foster executive partnerships and effectively manage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (including referral agencies, other service providers, training partners, government contacts, employment service agencies, Tier 1 employers)
  5. Outcome and Impact measurement: Continual improvement and delivery of the Outcome Evaluation Framework to ensure the measurement of Good Cycles employment outcomes and impact are strongly evidence-based; strive for continuous improvement and sit in line with strategic objectives.
  6. Funding Coordinating: Work with the management team to identify grants and funding opportunities to support employment programs. Write and submit grants as needed, complete progress reports and acquittals

Skills and Experience

  1. Tertiary qualifications to enable a previous position such as Community Development manager, Manager of Youth Programs, Transitional Employment Manager
  2. Strong demonstrable business skills are essential (budgeting, grant and report writing)
  3. Experience with at-risk youth and understanding of related issues, both practical and systematic
  4. Experience managing delivery teams (≥5 direct reports) is essential
  5. Familiarity with social enterprise is strongly desirable
  6. Experience within the business sector is essential
  7. Outcome evaluation management for impact measurement is essential

You are committed to evidence-based practice, continuous improvement, measurement and evaluation.
