Project Solutions Coordinator - Cities Power Partnership

The Role

The Project Solutions Coordinator works with Cities Power Partnership (CPP) member councils, private sector consultants and solutions providers, relevant stakeholders and others as appropriate, to identify and raise awareness of innovative products, services, technologies, processes and funding opportunities. The purpose of the role is to support local government in overcoming key barriers to implementing clean energy and other emissions reduction projects.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Engaging directly with individual CPP member councils as appropriate to raise awareness of opportunities and build capacity to overcome the key barriers to implementation of clean energy projects
  • Developing and maintaining a database of information that will assist CPP member councils to implement ambitious clean energy projects, including relevant case-study examples of Australian and international best-practice case studies
  • Working with the CPP team to ensure appropriate resources are made available to all member councils via the CPP Knowledge Hub.
  • Managing relationships with and representing the CPP on various stakeholder organisations aligned with the objectives of the role
  • Contributing to the development of targeted collateral produced by the CPP communications and media team
  • Representing the Cities Power Partnership at external events and other networking opportunities
  • Designing and managing the delivery of virtual and face-to-face events focused on transferring knowledge, building capacity and increasing collaboration of CPP member councils to deliver projects associated with their pledges made under the CPP program

About you

  • You’re a go-getter who is self-motivated and responsive and can work effectively in a small, fast-paced and highly collaborative team to get the job done
  • You understand the private sector solutions landscape and also know what makes councils tick, particularly how they implement projects to deliver on their emissions reduction commitments
  • You’re great on the phone and you love talking to and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
  • You’re a speedy researcher with a passion for detail, who can collate large amounts of information into databases, fact-check content and contribute to the development of sharp public communications
  • You’re also highly organised and you’ve had experience with event and project planning
  • You take the initiative and are confident to present new thinking or make suggestions to improve the success of a project

Key requirements

Strong understanding of councils and the private sector

  • Completed undergraduate studies in an appropriate field such as environment, engineering, sustainable development or arts
  • You have a demonstrated understanding of and experience working in local government, consulting or the solutions provision space developing policy or delivering clean energy and other emissions reduction projects
  • Great at undertaking research and communicating information
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking primary and secondary research
  • You have the ability to communicate detailed data, information and case studies in a way that makes it compelling and easily digestible for a lay audience
  • Brilliant at networking and engaging with stakeholders
  • You’ve had experience connecting with and maintaining relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Able to field high volumes of phone and email correspondence
  • A confident networker
  • A good organiser
  • Experience planning and coordinating logistics for events as well as working with a range of different suppliers and contractors
  • Passion and drive
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic, agile and fast-paced environment
  • Passion for climate change, sustainability or advocacy, and a personal drive to succeed

The Cities Power Partnership is Australia’s largest and most active local government climate network, run by the Climate Council. We’re a fast growing team made up of expert Councillors, staff, volunteers and supporters. Together we are doing everything we can to accelerate and celebrate Australian local government’s clean energy successes. The Cities Power Partnership is a national program with members in every state and territory and the role may therefore require some travel within Australia.

Remuneration and benefits

The Cities Power Partnership is a project of the Climate Council, an influential not-for-profit organisation and this exciting role will provide the candidate access to some of the best and brightest minds working in climate science, communications and advocacy. The role is offered on the following terms

  • Full time or 0.8 FTE part-time position
  • Two year contract
  • Annual salary $70K - 75K (contingent on experience) full time, exclusive of superannuation.
  • Based in central Melbourne or Sydney offices.
