The Centre for Applied Health Economics, within the School of Medicine, based in the Sir Samuel Griffith building at the Nathan campus, seeks a highly motivated senior analyst to undertake economic evaluations and Health Technology Assessments (HTA) for national policy makers. The Centre is self-funded, and this position provides an opportunity to work with an excellent team of health economists and biostatisticians in a multi-disciplinary setting, to deliver high quality HTA’s and economic advice with significant impact on policy.
CAHE has a strong emphasis on mentoring staff and establishing career pathways and training for those keen to progress within the Centre. On the job training is essential in some of the specialised fields covered by the Centre, and external training opportunities and conference presentations are encouraged for all staff.
This is a fixed term (3 year), full-time appointment based at the Nathan campus.
The key roles for the successful candidate will be to complete appraisals of industry submissions to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee. This includes supervision of junior staff undertaking HTA.
Additional duties may include undertaking preparing or appraising submissions to the Medical Services Advisory Committee for listing on the Medical Benefits Schedule, collaborating on research grant applications, and producing high quality research outputs such as reports to government bodies and publications in scientific journals.
The successful candidate will have experience in HTA and the evaluation of industry submissions to the PBAC. An advanced tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as health economics or an evidence-based medicine discipline, together with experience of data analysis, strong organisational skills and leadership skills, is expected.
They will have experience in designing and undertaking decision analytic models and/or evidence-based medicine research. In addition, the successful candidate will have a record of writing reports for the Australian Government or a strong track of research publications and a sound understanding of the Australian health policy-making environment.
Senior Research Fellow $115,593 - $133,289 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $135,243 - $155,948.
