Role Purpose

Community Resources is a national not-for-profit community development organisation. It exists to create jobs that make communities better. We employ and work with people experiencing disadvantage so that they can develop social and economic livelihoods for themselves.

Operations include three environmental repair social enterprises (Soft Landing, Green Connect, and Resource Recovery Australia); and a range of community services (including Helping Hands, Homebase youth and Aboriginal services, Great Lakes and Manning Youth Homelessness Services, and WasteAid Australia). 

Soft Landing is a national mattress recycling social enterprise operating across NSW, ACT, VIC and WA. The Manager of Soft Landing WA role is both operational and strategic. While ensuring that the WA Soft Landing enterprise operates efficiently and safely, it also develops opportunities for enterprise development and developing employment opportunities. 

Selection Criteria

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications Management, Waste Management or related

Knowledge

  • Applied knowledge of WHS regulations and requirements

Experience

  • Minimum five years management experience
  • Supporting managers in the supervision, direction and coordination of staff
  • Demonstrated experience analysing information/data including interpretation of financial returns
  • Meeting procedures and efficient conduct of meetings
  • Preparation and revision of plans, budgets, submissions and proposals
  • Previous experience working in a not-for-profit or profit-for-purpose organisation will be highly regarded
  • Staff development and training techniques
  • Applying staff disciplinary and termination procedures
  • Negotiation and contracts development
  • Business development, sales and marketing
  • Record keeping, compiling, reporting and evaluating
  • Procurement strategies
  • Logistics and waste management
  • Machinery, materials, storage and handling. 

Skills and Abilities      

  • Highly developed communication skills with proven ability to build effective relationships and communicate with a diverse range of people internal and external
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised or as a member of a team with a demonstrated commitment to customer service, equity, health and safety/rehabilitation in the workplace
  • Strong time management, decision-making and organisational skills
  • Ability to travel as required
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Available to be reasonably contactable at all times
  • Current drivers licence, Class 3, or greater
  • Licence to operate a loader/forklift or can attain a Forklift Licence.
