In this varied and challenging role, you will manage and develop the intensive youth mentoring programs in the East Kimberley. Save the Children is no ordinary not-for-profit.

We're ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for children's rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from violence. We run programs in Australia and overseas and, if there's a disaster - like an earthquake, drought or conflict - we are there on the ground.

Where you come in:

In this full-time permanent position, based in our Kununurra office, you will inspire a team of passionate and talented individuals to accomplish ambitious goals for our youth programs. Collaborating with local youth justice stakeholders, these programs support targeted young offenders aged 10-17 to reduce offending. You will be part of our Kununurra Youth Team and report to our Regional Coordinator.

  • Building relationships with the local community and confidence in the program
  • Providing practical support, mentoring and advocacy for young people and their families (as required) with complex needs
  • Organising successful back to country day trips and activities

If we could compose the perfect you…

… You would be a highly flexible individual who is calm under pressure and loves to have positive impact working with traumatised youth. This role requires:

  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to nurture a cohesive team
  • Ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate activities
  • Experience in case management and working with young people
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and complex scenarios
  • Current valid driver's licence
  • Relevant degree qualifications in youth work, social work, social science, education, psychology, or progress towards (highly desirable)

Working at Save the Children is more than just a job.

  • Location Allowance
