Grow Well Live Well (GWLW) is a project involving a group of community organisations working together to improve how well children and young people grow up in Palmerston. We need you to work as a passionate and innovative team facilitating the success of community objectives. Utilising your strong administration and interpersonal skills, you will assist with the design, development and implementation of a community focused engagement strategy and plan. By joining our team, you will have the space to think creatively to make a lasting change in communities and influence public policy.

Save the Children is acting as a host employer, the GWLW Leadership Group provide strategic direction to the project that guide the actions of the Backbone Team.

Where you come in:

In this part-time 3 year maximum-term position (30.4 hours per week, equivalent to 4 days), based in Palmerston, you will work with a small backbone team accelerating large scale social change, implementing community level action that achieve the strategic goals of the project. You will work to provide solid administration support to the team and facilitate key community relationships. You will be part of our GWLW Collective Impact Project team and report to the Executive Officer.

You will make an impact by:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with community members/partners, facilitating community leadership and supporting aligned activities
  • Effecting system change by leading new ways of working that include community voice
  • Coordinating participatory research and other activities with project partners to maximise engagement
  • Working with data in partnership with community to get a complete picture in place for Palmerston.
  • Identifying opportunities for community involvement in design and decision making in activities that effect their lives
  • Planning and managing logistics of community events

Your flexibility and drive alongside strong time management and organisational skills sees you successfully work under pressure, in a complex environment, to tight deadlines. You have a 'can-do' attitude, demonstrate an infectious enthusiasm for your job and inspire others to achieve great change.

This role requires:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications such as Social Welfare, Community Development or Health Science (Diploma or higher) or significant relevant experience
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships
  • Demonstrated experience working in a complex and diverse community development environment
  • Ability to work respectfully and sensitively in a cross-cultural context
  • Highly developed administration and coordination skills
