We are looking for an Occupational Therapist, preferably with experience working with individuals with autism and intellectual disability. We want you to work with other allied health professionals and the whole support team to develop ideas and resources to aid in managing problem behaviours and to ensure ongoing learning opportunities are offered. We need to ensure that the schedule of activities takes into account all of the issues presented. An appreciation of the principles of active support and sensory regulation management techniques is essential.
We also need assistance with working out the best design of appropriate accommodation to ensure the physical environment minimises sensory issues, ensures safety and allows for the delivery of appropriate support services.
The service is based at present in Magill. We have consultant Behavioural Psychologists and Speech Pathologists on the team. We are also looking for a developmental educator or special needs educator - see advertisement here.
We can offer ongoing opportunities for professional development.
We want applicants who are prepared to provide direct support and engagement as well as mentor, coach and train support workers. We want professionals who are excited about practically contributing their skills to deliver real outcomes. We want people who are creative and who will adopt a truly person-centred approach, focusing only on what a good life for each individual could look like rather than 'the way things are ordinarily done'.
We can be very flexible about the days and time of the work. We can offer excellent rates of pay.
