About you

This is a senior and key position within our organisation, and to be successful you will need:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in a social science or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience working within at least one of the Mental Health, Community, Disability or Health Sciences Sectors
  • Minimum 3 years management experience, including supervising staff
  • An understanding and experience of children and adult mental health issues, rehabilitation practices, disability services and the impact of service users, families, carers and the community
  • Strategic planning and ability to implement business plans
  • Satisfactory Police Record Check, Blue Card (Working with Children), Yellow Card (Working with Disability), and Child Safety & Personal History Screening Check (LCS2), or willingness to obtain.

About this opportunity

Wellways Australia is going through exciting transformation and growth. Reporting to the General Manager - QLD, this position based in Mackay or Townsville, will lead the change in the North Queensland region and responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the implementation of high quality, innovative and responsive mental health and disability services, including Child Safety programs
  • Maximise opportunities for people with mental illness and other disabilities, and their families, to fully participate in the community and attain general well being
  • Staff performance management including supervise, resource and assist staff to manage day-to-day issues
  • Report on business plans, financials, budgets etc. and ensure the attainment of performance targets for the Region
  • Develop strong internal and external stakeholder relationships within the Region to support Wellways programs and services
  • As a member of the Management team, support and reinforce a coordinated approach to the implementation of strategic objectives, and promote a customer-focused, high-functioning and collaborative Wellways culture.
