House with No Steps (HWNS) have a Learning & Development Facilitator role supporting our Southern teams in NSW. Work location is flexible, based on office locations in Southern or Western NSW.

Reporting to the national Learning & Development Manager you will be part of a team of professionals working collaboratively to address training needs and support staff to learn and use what they learn on-the-job. You will deliver engaging training programs to staff working with people with disabilities and be responsible for leading the delivery of mandatory training, business critical systems training and designing responsive training to meet customer needs. HWNS also has an RTO and you may be involved in training and coordinating disability specific qualifications and short courses.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Delivers consistent, engaging, contextualised and memorable training materials, as evidenced by feedback
  • Schedules, coordinates & promotes mandatory training and learning resources available for staff
  • Consults well with managers and practice leaders to identify training needs and deliver responsive training or facilitated learning workshops, including collaborating with specialist external training providers as needed.
  • Works with managers to identify suitable staff to undertake qualifications and supports them to succeed
  • Reports on regional training attendance & mandatory training completion rates

Selection criteria and experience required:

  • At least 3 years’ experience as a trainer, ideally with experience in the disability sector; or you have experience supporting people with a disability and are passionate about supporting others to learn and improve the way they work.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities and those who support them, either as a support worker or manager, highly desirable
  • Cert IV TAE (current), essential, Cert IV Disability or higher, desirable
  • Enjoys supporting and coaching others and has sound knowledge of adult learning principles, delivering training gives you a buzz
  • Experience in development, implementation and evaluation of training programs, desirable
  • Experience contextualising learning resources and adapting training to learner needs
  • Demonstrated competence in facilitating group and individual learning
  • Confident and articulate and builds rapport with learners
  • Qualifications and/or competence in mandatory training topics/policy and qualifications (Cert III Individual Support, Cert IV Disability, Cert IV Leadership & Management or Diploma Community Services in particular).
  • Well organised, with demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritise workload, follow up and work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines
  • Well-developed computer skills – MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point and LMS; including the capacity to learn new systems
  • Australian driver’s license, good driving record, ability to travel interstate as required.
