Emerge Women & Children's Support Network (Emerge) is an independent organisation delivering 24/7 housing and support services to women and children in times of crisis.

Founded over 40 years ago, Emerge also offers vital outreach services to women and children in the community who are often living with perpetrators of family violence in their own homes. Emerge assists women and children to escape, recover and start anew from violence and homelessness by offering a high-security refuge, outreach services, financial counselling, mental health initiatives including art therapy and therapeutic play programs and after school and holiday programs for children.

Emerge offers tailored programs aimed at assisting women to rebuild their lives and learn new personal and professional skills as they begin their journey towards independence. Emerge's staff are committed to providing a safe, supportive atmosphere where they can work to change the values of society that perpetuate violence against women and children.

About the Opportunity

Emerge is now seeking an enthusiastic and driven Female Family Violence Case Worker to join the team in South Eastern Melbourne on a four-day part-time basis.

In this position, an applicant's sex is a genuine occupational requirement of the role and is authorised under the Victorian Equal Opportunity Act 2010 Section 26 (1).

Reporting to the Manager of Integrated Family Services, you will primarily be responsible for providing strengths-based client-centred support, advice and assistance women and children that are victims of family violence.

Your day to day duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Planning, implementing and evaluating case management strategies for women and their children including the development of individual case plans, safety plans, referrals to community agencies and services and family work;
  • Facilitating and advocating access to a wide range of information, services and resources that will enable women and children to make informed choices about their future;
  • Actively supporting fellow team members to manage the team's caseloads through shared case management, cross skilling and internal relief for planned and unplanned absences; and
  • Seeking opportunities to further develop and enhance the Emerge services framework that supports the organisation's innovative and progressive model.

You will be required to participate in an on-call roster once in every three weeks. As the team all work 4 days part-time, you will need to be comfortable sharing caseloads and assisting where necessary.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with a competitive rate circa $33 - $35 per hour plus super, commensurate with your skills and experience!

While working hours are primarily Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, flexible working hours are available to suit your lifestyle and family commitments, depending on operational requirements and team workloads.
