About Us

Domestic Violence NSW Service Management (DVSM) is a registered charity that provides services to people experiencing and/or escaping Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) and/or homelessness. DVSM provides support services in an urban, suburban and remote rural service, and also has a professional services division aimed at increasing influence and impact about DFV, within the Community Services sector and more broadly with the wider ecosystem including corporations, organisations, institutions, online and local communities.

About the role

DVSM is seeking to recruit a CA/CPA qualified Finance Coordinator who, as part of a team, will coordinate and deliver effective financial accounting and management support to key stakeholders, in line with DVSM’s vision, purpose and strategy. The role is part-time and brings with it the opportunity to be involved in driving and maintaining robust a financial system, processes and reporting function, in line with regulatory requirements.

The Finance Coordinator reports to the Organisational Services Manager and requires strong technical proficiency with a practical focus, outstanding stakeholder management skills, excellent communication skills, a passion for business improvement, and a proven ability to deliver quality outcomes.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Management and oversight of Finance operations, performance and reporting functions across the organisation including general ledgers, balance sheet and P&L analysis, asset register, cash-flow reporting and account reconciliations
  • Develop, implement and contribute to effective financial and governance related policies, systems and procedures to reduce financial risk and ensure compliance to all regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Manage year-end audit processes, including preparation of annual financial statements and collaborating efficiently with external auditors
  • Responsible for preparing, reviewing and monitoring budgets at service and corporate levels

Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business or relevant discipline, with either CPA/CA membership, and minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role, including financial reporting and analysis
  • Sound technical accounting and tax knowledge including relevant Australian Accounting Standards, Australian tax legislation
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability and confidence to liaise with internal and external stakeholders of all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to self-direct, plan and prioritise workload and work within a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management, with proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Advanced computer literacy skills, in particular XERO, KeyPay, Office, MS Visio and SharePoint.

A successful Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Federal Police Check is required to be employed with DVSM.

Desirable Criteria

  • Working experience within non-for-profit or community services sector, with focus on domestic and family violence, highly regarded.
