The Visitor Engagement Department develops and delivers fun, memorable and meaningful visitor experiences to help achieve the Zoo Victoria's mission to become the world's leading zoo-based conservation organisation. The Visitor Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering thematic, conservation-based visitor experiences across serendipitous engagement, animal experiences, cultural experiences and site specific experiences. The Visitor Engagement Coordinator will build on an already established suite of experiences, and connect these to our conservation and fighting extinction aims.

This role works collaboratively in a team of two to provide coverage across 7 days a week, with one Coordinator focused on detailed planning for visitor engagement, and one on commercial activities.

Providing overall coordination of the Visitor Engagement team at Healesville Sanctuary, the incumbent is responsible for:

• Provide active coordination of the team and ensure they have the necessary skills, training and development opportunities to succeed in delivering a wide range of outstanding visitor experiences.
• Design and deliver a wide range of innovative, wildlife and conservation based visitor experiences aligned to a yearly program of activations, events and core daily experiences
• Lead the development and continuous improvement of visitor experiences, ensuring they are innovative, memorable, and aligned with animal welfare codes and visitor expectations, including, but not limited to, presentations, animal and non-animal experiences, tours, events, tourism and media opportunities and interactive play activations.
• Drive commercial outcomes by developing and overseeing the delivery of paid experiences, including custom tours and commercial products such as animal encounters.
• Provide mentoring and training opportunities for staff to enhance their interpretive and visitor engagement skills, ensuring consistent delivery across the team
• Ensure smooth operation of experiences, by providing essential equipment and responding to team needs as well as technical monitoring, reporting and troubleshooting.
• Actively contributes to safety at ZV by being aware of the safety policies and procedures and consciously acknowledge them every day thus ensuring that ZV is a safe place to work.
