The Assets and Maintenance Team is responsible for the upkeep and safe operation of Melbourne Zoo infrastructure. This includes handling both reactive and planned preventative maintenance, as well as overseeing capital projects, managing asset data systems, and ensuring security for the Zoo.

The Maintenance Team addresses all reactive maintenance requests, ranging from animal welfare needs to the maintenance of conservation assets, buildings, roads, fleet, landscapes, and visitor safety. Their role is crucial in supporting internal departments (such as Life Sciences, Visitor Experience, and Operations) and serving our visitors, providing a safe and memorable zoo experience.

The Maintenance Manager's primary responsibility is to lead a high-performing team to deliver exceptional customer service in maintenance. We are seeking motivated, results-oriented applicants that are team focused. A strong work ethic, time and teamwork skills are essential to this role where you will be leading a dedicated team of trades people. You will work with the team to deliver high standards of asset maintenance.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Trade Certificate or relevant significant experience across a range of trade areas.
• Experience in leading a dynamic and customer focused maintenance team.
• Knowledge, experience and open support of OH&S procedures and work place safety
• Ability to plan and execute effective reactive maintenance programs
• Experience in managing staff and contractors for safe and effective delivery of jobs across a diverse range of trades
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Proven communication interpersonal skills in developing and maintaining harmonious productive relationships with staff and contractors
• Good written and verbal communication skills as well as experience with work flow IT systems to ensure work requisitions, service requirements and reactive works are closed and recorded in a timely manner
• Ability to initiate and recommend improvements to workflow
