Zonta House Refuge Association (Zonta House) is a specialist provider of family and domestic violence (FDV) services. Our purpose, values and services have been informed through over 40 years of experience, the needs of women in our community and research in leading practice.

Zonta House provides a suite of services for women experiencing FDV that reinforce one another and represent the core of Zonta House’s work. That is, when the voices of women are heard, our responses uphold dignity, builds on safety, and challenges the drivers of abuse. Victim/Survivors of FDV are able to access responsive and person-centred support based on their needs to build a future free from abuse.

About the role

The Communications and Engagement Officer is central to the public relations and communications to our diverse stakeholders, which include but not limited to the community, supporters, staff, clients and committee.

This role will create and deliver engaging content across digital and traditional media channels, including social media management, content writing, media relations, and publications. The role involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the Zonta House’s brand awareness, messaging, and strategic objectives.

In addition to stakeholder engagement and marketing, this diverse position also manages events, media and coordinates with our team to identify volunteer opportunities and run volunteer campaigns.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Qualification and experience in communications, public relations, marketing or a related discipline.
  • Experience in developing engaging and accessible written content tailored for different audiences.
  • Strong proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) with an understanding of digital trends.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Family and Domestic Violence.
  • Proficiency in Canva.
  • Record of achievement in observing professional boundaries and standards working with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong storytelling and creative writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and respond flexibly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, with limited supervision
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a variety of stakeholders and demonstrable facilitation and liaison skills
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to cultural and demographic diversity within the community.
