St Joseph’s Schools offers an inclusive and non-discriminating learning community to young people, who for a variety of reasons, make the choice to attend a specialised learning environment. St Joseph’s operates across multiple campuses, located in North Melbourne, Geelong, Colac, and a new campus opening in Ballarat in 2024. The young people who attend have typically experienced one or more significant and complex educational, social, developmental, psychological, health, legal or familial situations which demand unique responses. Such interventions are embedded within the principles of operation which combine education with an understanding of trauma-informed practice.

The Program Director Engagement and Wellbeing provides leadership to staff and the young people, working collaboratively with the Campus Principal, Deputy Principal, and school leadership. The role has delegated responsibilities in developing and maintaining the education, wellbeing, enrolments, and social inclusion responsibilities of the campus.

The Role

  • We are looking for a full-time Program Director – Wellbeing & Engagement to join our team, based at our Geelong campus.
  • You will be employed on a fixed term basis, commencing Term 1 2024, and will be employed under the Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022.

You will need:

  • Ability to commit to and work within our Operating Principles; Respect, Participation, Safe and Legal and Honesty.
  • Tertiary Qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology and Behavioural Science and/or equivalent experience
  • Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check and provide a National Police Check certificate (issued within the last six months)
  • Previous experience in leadership and initiating engagement and wellbeing strategies for young people highly regarded
  • Collaborative team player with highly developed interpersonal skills in the context of relating to work colleagues, young people and parents in a cross-cultural environment. In particular, demonstrated success in building relationships with disenfranchised young people.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional learning for self and others to enable further development of skills and expertise
  • Previous experience and/or qualifications relevant to supporting and/or leading an organisations commitment to being a child safe organisation.
  • The ability to inspire and engage young people
  • Be willing to support young people and our team members to reach their potential
