About the Occupational Health and Safety Specialist role

Your Community Health and Transgender Victoria are partnering together to seek an enthusiastic and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Specialist who brings a combination of expertise in OHS and lived experience as an LGBTIQA individual to design initiatives preventing gender-based violence in the workplace.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Occupational Health and Safety Specialist is a part time, fixed term position until June 2025. This position will be located at the Victorian Pride Centre in St Kilda.

Your passion and commitment will see you:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive OHS initiatives, strategies and policies that align with Australian legislation with a specific focus on the needs of the LGBTIQA community.
  • Ensure Organisational compliance with all relevant OHS regulations and standards.
  • Design and implement effective risk assessment frameworks, considering the unique challenges faced by the LGBTIQA community in the workplace.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and provide ongoing education on OHS practices and gender-sensitive safety measures, to enable a safe and inclusive environment for all individuals.

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience in OHS
  • Lived experience as an LGBTIQA individual is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian OHS legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Proven experience in writing reports as well as developing and implementing risk assessment frameworks.
  • Expertise in designing initiatives that prevent gender-based violence in the workplace.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

As a YourCH employee in this role you must have:

  • A valid Victorian Working with Children Check (employee only)
  • A Satisfactory Police Check (paid for by YourCH)
