About the opportunity

As the Safeguarding Investigator you will actively promote the health​, safety and wellbeing of children and young people who access a range of YMCA services including Camping, Local Recreation, King Swim, Children's Programs (ELCs, Crèche, and OSHC), Youth Services and Disability Services.

The role will work closely with a dedicated team to promote and oversee child safety across the organisation. Your work will involve:

  • Planning and conducting efficient and objective investigations and/or fact findings into allegations of reportable conduct as defined by the Commission for Children and Young People or other legislative standards and principles;
  • Instructing and supervising external investigators as required
  • Instructing and supervising internal investigators as required
  • Planning and conducting Root Cause Analyses of processes related to safeguarding of children and young people.

This is a permanent position where you'll work from home initially and then from our Box Hill offices 1 to 2 days per week as restrictions ease. You'll also visit our range of sites and locations from time to time.

About you

You'll have a passion for maintaining and improving high standards of child safety and a practical sense for how this can be operationalised in a large and diverse organisation. In addition you will have:

  • Experience conducting workplace investigations with a particular focus on safeguarding children and reportable conduct;
  • Extensive understanding of regulatory frameworks and licensing standards;
  • Demonstrated experience in meeting reporting requirements and analysis of information in a timely and comprehensive manner;
  • A flare for managing a range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Relevant degree and qualification in investigation or related field (e.g. Certificate IV in Government Investigations); and,
  • A valid Australian drivers licence.
