Together the Y and Dolly's Dream will deliver a dynamic and inclusive, weekly youth event delivering a range of activities designed to foster positive social interaction, personal growth, and community engagement for young people.

About the role

The permanent full-time Youth Drop-In Coordinator role is responsible for the development, management, and operation of the Katherine Youth Drop-In Nights. This includes being responsible for delivering youth services, programs and initiatives that are rich in engagement and development opportunities. We are looking for someone who can lead a team to deliver outstanding service and initiatives and create a community where young people feel heard and seen.

The Katherine Youth Drop-In Coordinator builds strong and productive relationships with key partnerships and stakeholders including contacts with service providers, community agencies and leaders, youth workers and advisory groups, regional networks, industry, government, and other stakeholders relevant to Youth Services.

  • Exercise a high level of responsibility for the work undertaken by all employees, including undertaking the planning, direction, management, and evaluation of weekly and future program operations.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of practice innovation to develop and deliver programs for Young People in conjunction with community capacity building.
  • Effective communication skills are essential to promote, manage and strengthen relationships within the organisation and across the public, private and community sectors.
  • Using experience in youth development and people management to mentor and guide a team of passionate youth workers to deliver a dynamic, nurturing and fun service that provides opportunities for growth and development.
  • You will be able to identify resource needs and ensure goals are achieved within budget and deadlines along with preparing grant applications, and grant acquittals and understanding budget versus actual program expenditure.
  • Experience and understanding of developing and leading programs to achieve exceptional outcomes, including managing staffing, budgets, reporting, and accountability.

All about You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related discipline, bachelor level or higher or extensive relevant sector experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience in program development.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead, guide, supervise and support employees with a sound understanding of supervision guidelines and best practice principles, ideally in community services or related fields.
  • Excellent relationship-building with experience working with a range of stakeholders including families, government, and community groups.
  • Excellent language, communication (both written and oral) and presentation skills.
  • Current First Aid certificate.
  • Working with Children Check (NT).
  • Current Driver’s Licence Class C.
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, and skills in the delivery of human services, preferably in a youth focused program.
