Job Description:

The YMCA Vocational School is a multi-campus educational community based at Kingston, Acacaia Ridge, Victoria Point, Mango Hill, North Lakes and Ispwich.

The School is a Special Assistance School offering alternative schooling programs to assist disengaged students in having the opportunity to reach their full potential through positive educational studies, activities and outcomes.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently recruiting for two vacancies - a permanent and a contract (maternity replacement) teacher position at the Kingston campus.

These are full-time positions, to join our existing team.

The ideal applicant will be looking for a challenge, have a passion for working with young people, a strong interest in the development of the holistic person, a personal interest in health and fitness, spirituality, personal well-being and values and ongoing professional development.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in the role, you will be able to meet the following criteria:

  1. Hold a relevant Bachelor degree, current Queensland Teacher Registration, First Aid Certificate and CPR Qualifications;
  2. Be able to demonstrate practical experience teaching and supporting young people and the development of positive student relationships;
  3. Ability to apply appropriate knowledge to plan and prepare teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students who are at risk of disengaging from education, whilst ensuring program delivery is consistent with relevant syllabi, curriculum policies and vocational objectives;
  4. Work successfully in a small team and within the schools’ philosophy & ethos to establish productive partnerships and achieve educational outcomes.
