Yerrabi Yurwang Child & Family Aboriginal Corporation is seeking an Executive Assistant to join our Team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to provide executive and administration support to the CEO and Executive ensuring every day is meaningful, productive, impactful and for someone who wants to play a role in improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people residing in the Northwest of the Australian Capital Territory, part of the traditional lands of the Ngunnawal People.

THE ORGANISATION:

Yerrabi Yurwang Child & Family Aboriginal Corporation(Yerrabi) was established in 2019, due to the high unmet health and wellbeing needs of the local Aboriginal Community residing in Canberra’s North-western Ngunnawal region. Yerrabi Yurwang means to ‘walk strong’ and was bestowed upon the organisation by our esteemed and respected Ngunnawal Elder Aunty Agnes Shea OAM, who was also a Founding Board Member of Yerrabi and our Inaugural Patron. In Dec 2024, Yerrabi also established Yerrabi Health in Macquarie ACT, to provide comprehensive Primary Health Services to the high unmet health and wellbeing needs of the local Aboriginal Community.

Yerrabi operates in the Northwest of the Australian Capital Territory, part of the traditional lands of the Ngunnawal People.

Yerrabi is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO), which means it is owned and operated by Aboriginal People, for Aboriginal People, and so, we are committed to the principle of Aboriginal self-determination, whereby we seek to engage and empower Aboriginal People and their Families who utilise Yerrabi’s services that align with our Vision Statement, Strategic Priorities, Values and Goals.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Yerrabi Yurwang is currently recruiting an Executive Assistant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in performing high-level administrative tasks at an executive level, who wants to work for an organisation that is passionate about positive change and wants to see the system working better to support Aboriginal young children, youth and their families, to have the best start in life.

As Executive Assistant you will work with and report directly to the CEO, providing high-level administrative support to the CEO and Executive as well as assist in other areas across the organisation when/if required. On a day-to-day basis this role coordinates, manages workload priorities, undertake a range of administrative tasks including diary management, scheduling appointments, arranging meetings, taking minutes, preparing reports, materials and routine correspondence.

This role also requires the successful applicant to obtain a Community Agency Employee Consent clearance as per ACT Childcare, Youth and Families requirements.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Qualifications in Business Administration (Cert III or Cert IV), and/or minimum 5 years’ experience working successfully as an Executive Assistant.
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and effectively prioritise workloads.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information, act with discretion, and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform well under limited direction including proven ability to exercise independent action and decision making within appropriate parameters.
  • Well-developed verbal, report writing and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to generate high quality documentation and materials.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships across all levels of an organisation.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workloads
  • Experience and interest in working in social policy and ideally issues related to Aboriginal children and their families.
  • Current drivers license.

DESIRABEL CRITERIA:

  • Qualifications in Business Administration (Cert III or Cert IV) or equivalent.
  • Sound understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues, knowledge and culture, and proven ability to apply this practice, and knowledge of programs that support culturally appropriate practice.
  • Experience working in the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector.

Please note, successful candidates will be required to provide the following mandatory certifications and checks as per ACT Children, Youth & Families requirements:

  • Current Driver’s License
  • Working with Vulnerable Persons Check (WWVP)
  • National Police Check (NPC) - dated within the last 6 months
  • Full Drivers History - dated within the last 6 months
