Are you prepared to make a substantial impact on the lives of Indigenous boys and young men from regional and remote Australia? Yalari invites you to become a part of our journey, where education serves as a catalyst for change. We're offering more than just a job; we're presenting an opportunity to be a driver of transformation. Yalari is more than an educational scholarship program; it's a path towards empowerment. We're in search of a committed Student Support Officer to join our team to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at two of our male Partner Schools in Sydney.
For nearly two decades, Yalari has been changing the lives of Indigenous children from remote and regional communities, by providing scholarships to Australia’s leading boarding schools.
As of 2023, we proudly support 230 students on their boarding school journey at 20 partner schools, alongside over 500 accomplished alumni who've made their mark across the nation.

As a Student Support Officer, your role is more than just a title; you'll be a guide, mentor, and confidant. You'll work tirelessly to support our boys and young men, instilling in them Yalari's core values of Compassion, Openness, Respect Resilence, Inclusiveness and Excellence.
Your role is based afterschool, evenings and weekends where you'll provide emotional and cultural support to nurture independent thinkers and future leaders. The relationships you build are the cornerstone of our student support network. You will work closely with partner school staff, parents and guardians, our Head Office Team, and our scholarship students.
In addition, you will play a crucial role in connecting students to their future role as alumni. By nurturing a sense of belonging and purpose, you'll inspire them to envision their place in the Yalari community beyond their school years.
Administrative tasks, case management, student sponsor updates and insightful reporting will all be part of your responsibilities, connecting you to our mission.
The ideal candidate is someone who can quickly build rapport with various stakeholders including young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander boys and young men, their parents, and staff at our Partner Schools. You will have demonstrated experience working effectively with young people and dealing with challenging situations and circumstances. We are looking for someone who can communicate broadly, work remotely while staying connected to the rest of the team, and organise workflow efficiently. You will need computer literacy including the ability to use Microsoft Sharepoint and other online database tools.
A ‘can do’ attitude, sense of humour and ability to problem-solve are essential.
This role comes with a degree of flexibility to benefit both staff members and students. The ideal candidate is someone who is highly organised and can be flexible enough to meet immediate needs as they arise.
Please click "Apply Now" and submit your resume and a one-page cover letter. The cover letter should be tailored to address your suitability as the ‘ideal candidate’.
