Community Shed and Tool Library Manager

Wyndham Park Community Centre

ABOUT THE ROLE

Wyndham Park Community Centre is looking for a Tool Library and Community Shed Manager. This role is based at the Wyndham Park Community Shed and will work directly with the community, volunteers, and other staff members. The role is for 30.4 hours per week (4 days).

If you are passionate about sustainability and empowering people then this is a great opportunity to join a small, dynamic and community focused organisation. The successful applicant must be able to commit to being available on one weekday evening and one weekend morning per week.

The Wyndham Park Tool Library will be the newest and largest project of Wyndham Park Community Shed. Did you know the average drill is only used for 13 mins in its lifetime? This project is about changing that – mobilising community and volunteers to build a sustainable social enterprise which saves people from buying tools and equipment they may only use a few times. It is funded by Wyndham City Council and Sustainability Victoria.

The Community Shed also runs programs and activities in carpentry, metalwork, bicycle repair, 3D printing, ceramics and mosaics. You will be responsible for collaborating with various stakeholders across The Shed and Community Centre to deliver projects of high value to our local community.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • A generalist with a sustainability mindset and the ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Good computer skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication and sound interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills, including ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal direction, and to work harmoniously in a team environment
  • Experience in volunteer recruitment and/or coordination including the delivery of trainings or inductions
  • Experience in a trade or workshop and qualifications in welding, electrical or carpentry will be highly beneficial
