A bit about the role

Reporting to the Team Leader Waste Strategy, the Waste and Litter Education Officer will contribute to shaping Wyndham as a leader in waste reduction by delivering waste education campaigns and programs to inform, engage, and support the active participation of Wyndham’s diverse community members.

What you’ll deliver:

  • High quality and effective waste and litter education and awareness programs contributing to a more sustainable city
  • Informative, engaging, and effective education campaigns and programs within the Council and across the community
  • Expert specialist advice and information to internal and external stakeholders on waste and litter related issues including resources, services, and current policies
  • Input into the Council’s strategies for waste management, environment, sustainability, and litter prevention and reduction
  • Plan, deliver and drive innovative waste reduction initiatives
  • Support to the achievement of Council’s targets and strategic objectives in the war on waste
  • Contribute to the annual budgets and reviews of waste education services

What you’ll bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies/Education or related field and/or demonstrable experience in a similar role
  • Hands-on experience in delivering environmental education programs including waste and/or litter education will be highly regarded
  • Hands-on experience in managing programs and projects
  • Demonstrable skills in effectively communicating a wide range of new concepts
  • Positive, proactive and flexible attitude
  • Current Victorian drivers licence
