About the role

The role supports the development of WWF-Australia's external-facing EDM and SMS marketing communications campaign program strategy and is responsible for program implementation across the full range of fundraising and brand engagement activities. The position administers WWF-Australia's EDM and SMS digital marketing communications and automation platforms, and maintains the digital supporter contact database and data synchronisation. The role oversees external vendor relations and leads planning and implementation of a program to enhance campaign performance. The Senior Digital Marketing Specialist - Marketing Automation & Campaigns plays a critical role in partnering with stakeholders to nurture and develop WWF-Australia's digital maturity.

Key Accountabilities (please see the PD for full list)

  • Maintains the external-facing EDM/SMS campaign scheduling calendar, in accordance with the contact strategy and contact rules and organisational priorities that they will establish and curate, in cooperation with key business stakeholders and campaign owners.
  • Develops and maintains a customisable, modular dynamic EDM and SMS template library, in accordance with WWF's brand style guide and best practice.
  • Coordinates, plans and schedules all EDM/SMS experiments, oversees the test plan with user base, drives and oversees WWF's EDM/SMS channel extension and integration.
  • Leads WWF-Australia's EDM/SMS performance optimisation program and communicates test results and insights to the business.
  • Continuously monitors, evaluates and optimises the health of the EDM/SMS marketing automation program and planned and ad hoc manual campaigns' performance.
  • Contributes to the design, planning, development, automation, scheduling and implementation, monitoring and optimisation of workflows and multichannel EDM/SMS campaigns and journeys for supporter onboarding, retention, conversion and reactivation programs.
  • Upskills campaign owners to become competent platform users, empowered to use workspaces and templates, manage their contact data and audience segmentation, set up and send campaigns, optimise performance, analyse and report on results.
  • Produces and administers practical EDM/SMS platform user training and maintains a current document library of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support the self-servicing platform user model.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and guidance on EDM and SMS campaign strategy and tactics, including audience segmentation, scheduling, performance monitoring, evaluation and optimisation.
  • Contributes directly to the technical integration and automation of WWF's digital and data ecosystem and the development and deployment of intelligent business processes and marketing automation workflows.
  • Maintains optimal quality, currency and health of EDM and SMS contact data across all supporter databases, in consultation and collaboration with the data and business intelligence team.

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • Expert proficiency in administering a tier-one marketing automation platform, ideally Adobe Marketo.
  • Demonstrated experience in both Email and SMS campaign management in a large-scale ecommerce or digital fundraising environment.
  • Demonstrated experience building both direct conversion and nurture journeys and creating multichannel outbound marketing campaigns and using APIs, scripting languages and HTML.
  • Advanced understanding of email and SMS digital marketing strategy tactics and channels, and best practices to optimise utilisation to maximise performance for engagement and conversions.
  • High-level of attention to detail including demonstrated analytical and reporting skills.
  • High-level organisation skills with a track record of meeting tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a flexible, team-based environment.

Sound knowledge of current data privacy, anti-spam legislation and best practice digital marketing standards.
