The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation is a Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) appointed under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic.). We represent the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Traditional Owners of Melbourne and the Greater Melbourne region, and take great pride in our responsibility for protecting and managing Aboriginal cultural heritage objects and places on Wurundjeri Country.
The Corporation provides a range of cultural services, including environmental land management, cross-cultural education, traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremonies, research, and cultural consultations.
The Role
Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a highly organised and experienced Project Officer to plan, coordinate and administer projects from initiation through to implementation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, administering project budgets and programs, monitoring project progress, and ensuring project objectives are delivered on time and within scope.
Key Responsibilities
- Define project scope, goals, milestones and deliverables in consultation with senior management.
- Plan, coordinate and administer projects from commencement through to implementation.
- Predict and allocate resources required for project delivery.
- Administer and monitor project budgets, track costs and assist with financial reporting.
- Coordinate and support project teams, including delegating tasks and monitoring progress.
- Liaise with internal teams, clients, Local Government Authorities, Government Departments and external stakeholders.
- Provide regular project updates and prepare progress reports for clients, executives and senior management.
- Identify potential project risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
- Assist with procurement, contract administration, compliance, strategic planning and change management activities.
- Ensure project activities are undertaken in a confidential, professional and culturally sensitive manner.
Skills and Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in project administration, project coordination, project management or a related field.
- Experience working with First Nations communities, Local Government Authorities and Government Departments is highly desirable.
- Experience in procurement, contract management, compliance, strategic planning and change management is essential.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, negotiation, time management and organisational skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to perform duties in a confidential and culturally sensitive manner.
- Reasonable knowledge and appreciation of Aboriginal cultures and matters, including cultural safety and social issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Project Management or a related field.
