THE ROLE

The Multi Agency Protection Service (MAPS) is an inter-agency information-sharing program to manage high risk domestic violence and child protection issues. The program is led by SAPOL and brings together partner agencies including SAPOL, Department for Education and Child Development (DECD), Department for Child Protection (DCP), Department for Correctional Services (DCS), Department for Human Services – SAHA (DHS), SA Health and WSSSA as non-government sector representatives.

The MAPS Team Leader holds a key role at the MAPS Tactical Table regarding professional and operational practice across all relevant areas of the domestic violence sector. Key responsibilities include:

  • Risk-assess matters of domestic, family violence and child protection on behalf of WSSSA, and identify service responses to address the actual or potential risk of harm to vulnerable individuals
  • Lead and contribute to professional development and operational practice discussions with other MAPS agencies and other key sector representatives.
  • Supervise and support the MAPS Research Support Officer

This is an ongoing position, initially full-time hours subject to funding allocation. The successful candidate is expected to be able to work full time, and flexible to decrease to 0.8FTE should funding allocations change.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a values-driven, highly reliable and experienced team leader with significant knowledge and experience in the provision of services to women and children affected by domestic and family violence.

  • A Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Social Sciences, Community Services or similar, and/ or experience commensurate with the position;
  • Significant knowledge and experience in understanding risk assessment and safety management as it relates to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence;
  • Understanding of the gendered drivers of domestic and family violence;
  • Experience in the provision of leadership, direction, support and supervision to staff;
  • Demonstrated ability to research and cross reference information;
  • A current drivers licence, and be eligible for, or hold a DHS Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance;
  • Able to provide evidence of either being fully vaccinated in line with TGA guidelines or hold a valid medical exemption authorised by the Chief Public Officer.
