Contract Manager - East Africa

The Position

Leads all aspects of management and reporting for a portfolio of contracts (which could include: institutional grants, privately funded projects, and/or commercial contracts) implemented through WV Field offices.

This includes activities such as: Monitoring Performance—Ensuring that Field Office/response teams/downstream partners meet the agreed-upon performance standards, timelines, and quality requirements, Managing Changes—Handling any modifications to the contract terms or project scope, Ensuring Compliance—Making sure that all contractual obligations are met, including adherence to accreditation guidelines and reporting requirements, Risk Management—Identifying and mitigating risks associated with contract execution, such as Counter Terrorism Fraud (CTF), safeguarding, corruption, and mismanagement.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all programmatic and financial deliverables are submitted on time and meet the required quality standards for both WVI and donors
  • Regularly review progress reports from Field Office/downstream partners to assess performance against the contract terms
  • As required, perform site visits to verify the progress and quality of work
  • Review feedback from stakeholders and beneficiaries to assess program performance
  • Negotiate changes with contractors and stakeholders to reach mutually acceptable terms
  • Revise contracts/SLAs to reflect approved changes and communicate these updates to all parties involved
  • Ensure all contractual activities comply with local laws, donor requirements, and organisational policies
  • Develop and deliver training programs on compliance requirements for staff and Field Office/downstream partners
  • Ensure Field Office/downstream partners develop appropriate risk mitigation plans to address identified risks and, as appropriate, support project continuity in case of unforeseen events
  • Collaboration with key internal stakeholders including Program & Contracts, Corporate Affairs, Private Funding and Retail
  • Support and advise WVA Stakeholders on gathering of field content relevant to marketing WVA’s grant & private non-sponsorship funded programs

Who we’re looking for 

We are looking for someone with experience managing multiple international development grants and contracts.

You will have:

  • Significant complex contract/grant management experience, ideally with a grant/contract portfolio
  • Program management experience, including the development and communication of results
  • Self-managed work experience, with ability to maintain focus and achieve outcomes under pressure
  • Account management or commercial experience in identifying or developing further opportunities
  • Understanding of procurement or grants/contracts structures and processes of the Australian Government, public service, and/or other international organisations
  • Knowledge of DFAT and the requirements of the ANCP Program is helpful
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications: these may include Business/Marketing, International Relations/International Development, or a relevant technical field
