The position

As the Business Analyst you will support the Business Partner (Strategy Enablement & Performance) through analysis and problem-solving to optimise business unit plans and manage performance. The purpose of this role is to understand the link between financial and non-financial metrics and works closely with other analysts to ensure a holistic view is being formed.

Your role plays an integral part in the organisation, enabling us to support our mission of empowering Australians to create meaningful change for the world’s most vulnerable children and adults.

The role is accountable day to day to support the Strategy Enablement and Performance Business Partner to effectively monitor group level performance and alignment to strategic outcomes and plans.

A day in the life of WVA’s Business Analyst - Finance includes:

• Support the Business Partner in regular performance updates and management, including development of reports, analysis and recommendations and communication to stakeholders.
• Financial and non-financial analysis to drive discussion and decision making, including development of supporting data driven models
• Assist with the coordination of organisational budget and forecast processes, including stakeholder coordination, income and expense analysis and scenario modelling
• Assist with ongoing analysis and validation of business strategies and plans through scenario modelling, to ensure alignment to guiding principles.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders to identify potential future requirements and activities to feed into annual planning cycle.

Who we’re looking for 

As the Business Analyst, you demonstrate high commercial acumen, a service focus and an approach to processes and practices with a continuous improvement mindset.

The successful candidates will also possess the following skills, experience & qualifications:

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance or other relevant discipline
• Experience in financial and non-financial reporting and analysis
• Demonstrated involvement in budget setting and management processes
• Demonstrated financial modelling experience
• Demonstrated involvement in strategic planning and implementation
• Stakeholder engagement at management levels
• Ability to define simple solutions to complex problems
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Sound verbal and written communication and presenting skills
