Senior Manager - Indonesian Intact Rainforest Partnership

World Resources Institute

This position is only considering applicants with working rights in Australia. Existing work authorisation is required at the time of application submission. WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position.

Program Overview:

The Indonesian Intact Rainforest Partnership (IIRP) is a project within WRI’s Food Program that aims to support the efforts of the provincial and central governments of Indonesia to pursue alternative and sustainable economic development for provinces with large amounts of intact forest cover. These include Aceh, North Kalimantan, Papua and West Papua. The two Indonesian provinces of Papua and West Papua hold the world’s third largest intact tropical rainforest, after only the Amazon and Congo. Currently they still have almost 90% forest cover, but much of the forest is licensed for commercial exploitation, roads and oil palm refineries are going in at pace, and their forests are in imminent danger.

Indonesian Intact Rainforest Partnership is designed to help catalyse the partners, and form partnerships across governments, business, NGOs and local communities to support the government in the realisation of this alternative pathway.

You will manage the workstreams to deliver the goals of protecting rainforest and building green sustainable economies. You will also lead the team’s fundraising efforts and build new networks of partners. It will involve working with leading experts in Indonesia, Australia and globally, as well as international travel particularly to Indonesia’s intact forest provinces.
