Rural Workforce Agency Northern Territory (RWA NT) are partnering with Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (SHSAC), to find a General Practitioner to provide excellent healthcare to one of their nine remote communities, located at Barunga, Manyallaluk, Wugularr, Bulman, Mataranka, Jilkminggan, Minyerri, Ngukurr and Urapunga. Sunrise Health Service is a community controlled health organisation providing comprehensive primary health care services to some 4000 people living in the Katherine East region.

As the successful General Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing culturally appropriate care with excellent levels of primary health care to members of a remote Katherine community. You will be able to demonstrate your previous experience working in Aboriginal health and showcase your expertise in chronic disease care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary and emergency medical care to remote clinics
  • Case manage clients with chronic illness in collaboration with other primary health care providers
  • Actively support and encourage the role of Primary Health Care Nurses, Primary Health Care Managers, Aboriginal Health Professionals and Community Based Workers as primary health care providers and leaders
  • Contribute and support health screening and health promotion programs

Essential Criteria:

  • Unrestricted working rights within Australia
  • Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Fellow of the RACGP or ACRRM with comprehensive experience in General Practice
  • Willingness and ability to accommodate Aboriginal values and traditions in clinical practice
  • Willingness, ability and appropriate levels of health and fitness to travel to and work from remote locations
  • Current Police clearance and Working with Children clearance
  • Current Indemnity Insurance Certificate

Specialist GP's from the UK or New Zealand that are eligible for the Australian Specialist Pathway, are encouraged to apply.

Overseas Trained GP'S with general registration or are eligible for provisional registration will be considered and required to provide evidence of:

  • Current AHPRA registration if held or Current AMC certificate
  • Current primary source verification of medical qualifications (EICS verification)
  • Current OET or ILETS test results
  • Current RACGP assessment of experience in general practice not essential, but highly regarded
  • Proof of right to work in Australia
