Women’s Health and Equality Queensland (WHEQ) are leaders in women’s health, gender equality, and the primary prevention of violence. We are a not-for-profit organisation that has been improving health outcomes for women for over 40 years. Our vision is to create a world where women and girls are equitably resourced, healthy, safe and thriving.

Our work focusses on Healthy Women and Systems Change and includes counselling and support services, healing and recovery after violence, health promotion, community violence prevention, professional education, capacity building, systems leadership and policy development.

Our work focusses on creating better outcomes for cohorts experiencing the highest rates of health disadvantage and inequality. We are a pro-choice organisation that supports people with diverse bodies, sexualities and gender identities. Our staff team of 30+ are amazing, passionate and supportive people who work collaboratively to create a better world.

Our head office is located on unceded Jagera and Turrbal Land in South Brisbane, with many of our services spanning across the entire state.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Community Collaboration Coordinator, you will:

  • Lead with compassion: Support a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, guiding project priorities and creating a positive, collaborative culture.
  • Co-create community projects: Apply community development principles to co-design and deliver initiatives that prevent gendered violence and improve health outcomes for women and girls.
  • Build strong partnerships: Engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders including community groups, service providers, and government agencies.
  • Amplify impact: Evaluate programs, prepare grant applications, and contribute to quality improvement and innovation that drives long-term change for women, girls and gender-diverse people.

This is an office-based role located in South Brisbane. It also involves engagement with communities across Queensland, including facilitating meetings, training delivery, and intrastate travel.

You’re passionate about working alongside communities to create healthier, more equitable futures. You understand that meaningful change is built on deep relationships, inclusive practice, and collaborative action.

Strategic leader and mentor: You have experience leading teams and managing multiple projects while fostering a values-aligned, high-performing environment.

Community development champion: You are grounded in participatory approaches and have experience co-creating initiatives with diverse communities.

Engaging communicator and trainer: You facilitate engaging training, events and partnerships that empower people to lead local change.

Collaborative partner: You build and sustain relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and know how to work across sectors to achieve shared goals.

Equity-driven practitioner: You centre intersectional, trauma-informed, and feminist frameworks in all aspects of your work.
