ABOUT WOMBAT

Wombat Housing Support Services is one of the largest providers of housing support services to people in the Western Metropolitan Region. We are a community-based organisation based in North Melbourne.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Wombat’s Youth programs provide outreach case management support to young people in the inner west of Melbourne who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We work to reduce the barriers to young people obtaining accommodation. Our clients may reside in THM, social housing, private rental or be couch surfing.

We have a specific focus on early intervention and prevention of homelessness, with a specialist early intervention case manager role and part of the program also focuses on culturally and linguistically diverse young people.

YOUR QUALITIES

The role would suit a highly motivated practitioner who has experience supporting vulnerable or disadvantaged cohorts.

  • You will be a skilled case manager who relishes the opportunity to work within a passionate tight knit team and enjoys thinking creatively about interventions for young people at risk
  • You will have a good understanding of the homelessness system
  • You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain stakeholder engagement
  • You will have an openness to self-reflection, feedback, learning and developing as part of a team.
  • You’ll be up for a challenge – every day will be different, so you will need to be organised and have the ability to juggle.

WORK ARRANGEMENTS

  • Fixed term position until February 2026
  • .8 EFT – 4 days per week
