We deliver services across the ACT covering children, families, young people and seniors including disability, housing and mental health services.

The Mental Health Services team is seeking for a passionate and committed Peer Recovery Worker who will use their lived experience to provide a unique lens of recovery focussed on service coordination and assisting people living with a mental health issue/s to achieve their recovery goals and aspirations.

Our Offer

  • Fixed term part-time (30 hours/week) appointment up to 21 December 2024.
  • Salary of WCS 5 $82,326.30 - $86,647.79 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 11% Superannuation.
  • Salary packaging (up to $15,899 per year) plus meal and entertainment cards.
  • Paid shutdown leave on standard working days between Christmas and New Year.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum Certificate IV in peer work, mental health or other relevant field with at least 2 years’ experience in a mental health or peer worker role
  • Experience in case management and/or support coordination, including knowing when and how to refer participants.
  • Demonstrated lived experience of the personal impacts and effects of mental health issues and related challenges.
  • Have personal insight into the impact of stigma and the subsequent effect this has for individuals, families and the broader community.
  • Experience building supportive relationships with people living with mental illness, their families and external service providers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of how to advocate for the recovery of those living with mental illness.
  • Demonstrated understanding of professional boundaries, privacy and confidentiality
  • An ethical commitment to recovery principles, capacity-building, person-centred, trauma informed, strength-based practice, and solutions focussed therapy.
  • Effective communication skills (both oral and written) to interact positively with a variety of people, and to identify possible barriers to communication.
  • Demonstrated computer and database skills that will ensure consistent, quality documentation and reporting.
