About the opportunity

As a Family Services Practitioner, you will work with vulnerable children, young people and their families who are being impacted upon by disadvantage including poverty, trauma, substance abuse, mental health and family violence and are potentially at risk of becoming involved with the Child Protection system or are already involved with child protection.

In this role, you will be involved in managing and supporting a caseload of allocated families and assist in developing strategies to support clients to meet goals.

What’s on offer

Part-time (38 hours per fortnight), Maximum term position until 30 June 2025, based in Werribee.

In addition to base salary plus superannuation, you’ll also receive 17.5% leave loading and access to the full $15,900 salary packaging benefits.

Paid Parental Leave for up to 10 weeks.

About you

You are looking to join an organisation that truly supports vulnerable Victorians and Tasmanians to improve their lives.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in working with disempowered and vulnerable people, for three to five years
  • Knowledge and experience of a range of relevant intervention strategies and frameworks including children’s developmental needs, parent skill development, working with diversity, drug and alcohol recovery, the cycle of violence, crisis planning and family and broader systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload of allocated families
  • Ability to develop strategies to assist clients to meet their goals and regularly review and evaluate
