Wesley Mission is a multi-faceted Christian organisation making a real difference in the community. We work with the most disadvantaged in our community by providing over 200 services ranging from aged care, homeless services, child and family care, counselling, employment, training and education, and health services.
Our Vision is “A Spirit-led disciple-making movement: doing all the good we can because every life matters”.
Commencing July 2026, Wesley Mission is growing its GambleAware services, extending our reach across Blue Mountains & Western Sydney, Central Sydney, Southwest Sydney, and North Sydney & Central Coast. This expansion reflects our longstanding commitment to harm reduction and ensures more individuals, families and communities can access timely, high-quality support for gambling related harm.
GambleAware program delivers a stepped, multimodal and person-centred approach to supporting individuals, families and communities affected by gambling harm. Our work spans early intervention, therapeutic counselling, community engagement and education—focused not only on responding to harm, but also on reducing stigma, strengthening community capacity and increasing help seeking.
We work collaboratively with local services, community partners and stakeholders to create accessible pathways to care and ensure support is responsive, culturally informed and grounded in best‑practice harm‑reduction principles.
Our peer support and community engagement roles will have the opportunity in softening the edges of service delivery through non – clinical support, building confidence and hope and working alongside clients in their recovery journey.
The position is open to people who have a lived experience of gambling harm or who have been impacted by Gambling harm to best support clients in our service and community in their own personal recovery journey.
The Worker uses their lived experience to assist others in the recovery process; help navigate systems and services and provide emotional and growth support.
As a core part of the GambleAware stepped care model, peer support will be used by clients at various stages of their help seeking, including those who are stepping into gambling harm supports as well as clients stepping down from clinical gambling harm supports.
Wesley Mission is a Christian organisation requiring all staff to affirm its values. We are committed to providing an environment in which children can feel safe and valued.
The suitable applicant will be subject to the relevant pre-employment checks for appointment to positions within Wesley Mission (including provision of a valid Working with Children Check clearance number). Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
