About the role

This exciting position entails supporting children and young people in foster care to achieve their educational potential. You will also be working one-to-one with a range of students from Kindergarten to Year 12, providing school support and academic tutoring. You will be co-ordinating a team of Education Tutors and offering direct support to case managers, foster carers and school personnel.

Essential criteria

• A degree in Education
• Experience in working with children with behavioural and learning difficulties and who may have experienced complex trauma
• Understanding of the educational needs of children in Out of Home Care
• Ability to work as a team with other professionals
• High-level of verbal and written communication skills for a variety of audiences.
• Current driver’s licence and willingness to drive throughout the region.

Desirable criteria

• Qualifications in Special Education
• Understanding of a variety of educational settings from K–12 and procedures within these education settings
• Experience in teaching children in Out of Home Care.

Remuneration

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS) with attractive salary packaging options.
