ABOUT US

WIRES is Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation and has been rescuing and caring for sick, injured and orphaned native animals for 40 years. WIRES' mission is to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same.

WIRES operate a dedicated Wildlife Rescue Office assisting wildlife and the community across Australia 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, providing rescue advice and assistance for approximately 150,000 animals annually, as well as providing full-time mobile Wildlife Emergency Responders operating across NSW, South-East Queensland and Tasmania.

WIRES also provides significant national support for hundreds of projects to assist with wildlife rescue and rehabilitation across Australia and collaborates nationally with major partners to support the long-term recovery of wildlife habitat and the preservation of native species.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The WIRES Projects and Grants Coordinator is dedicated to ensuring the on-time delivery, within budget, of WIRES projects and the ongoing development of WIRES internal and external support programs. This includes project planning and management, stakeholder consultation and engagement, and supporting team members to deliver strategic goals.

You will need to be flexible, hands on and able to work collaboratively.

This is a 12-month contract with the potential for extension.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinating and implementing a range of projects with sound project management principles.
  • Coordinate the delivery of WIRES National grant programs including managing applications, assessment, reporting, promotion, grant collateral and other tasks as required.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of high quality, well-written grant applications.
  • Work with various internal and external stakeholders to identify and appropriately package projects requiring funding.
  • Oversee the completion of successful outgoing grant projects, including reporting.
  • Develop strong working relationships across internal teams to communicate opportunities and outcomes.
  • Ensure WIRES website information that relates to projects & grants is correct and reviewed regularly and updated. Provide copy and other relevant information to the Marketing and Communications team to promote projects through WIRES social media channels.
  • Liaise with funding bodies including trusts and foundations, as required.
  • Coordinate & manage internal reporting.
  • Work with colleagues to share workloads during busy periods
  • Perform other duties and manage other projects as requested by management.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Demonstrated success in grant program administration and environmental project management
  • Highly organised, reliable, efficient & detail oriented with excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (desirable)
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to produce formal responses and submissions to tight deadlines
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated capacity to exercise judgement and initiative within prescribed areas of work
  • Positive attitude & ability to work in a team and manage a wide range of stakeholders
  • High level project management skills with the ability to manage strategic projects with limited supervision, and balance competing priorities
  • Awareness of the importance of data integrity and accuracy
  • Proven ability to work in a team with a flexible approach to sharing tasks and working co-operatively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Some work from home will be possible and a mix of home and office based work is expected.
