Qualifications & Experience:
To thrive in this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in fresh produce procurement and team management.
- A deep appreciation for the advantages of organic produce production and consumption.
- A commitment to community service.
- Early morning riser, ready to take on the day.
- Possession of a manual driver's license, as you'll be responsible for driving a 4.5-tonne truck to the morning market 2-3 times a week. A forklift driver's license is also advantageous.
- Availability for a 5-day work week (ideally Sunday - Thursday due to buying responsibilities).
- Strong, relevant work and character reference are essentials.
- While not mandatory, an interest in or experience with other store sections is welcomed.
Tasks & responsibilities:
As the produce buyer, your full-time salaried position will involve the following key responsibilities:
- Procuring the highest quality organic produce and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
- Maintaining impeccable standards in display and storage.
- Efficient pricing and invoice management.
- Effective leadership as apart of the management team; reporting to the Produce Department Manager and the Store Manager.
